Ristorante Boccon di Vino, Italy | www.bsur.it/boccondivino
When it comes to romantic culinary getaways, few places compare with Italy. And if you’re in the mood for some good old-fashioned R ‘n’ R in this gastro-wonderland, Ristorante Boccon di Vino near the hilltop town of Montalcino is the place. While you could be satisfied by the view alone—the terrace looks out over verdant vineyards, colorful fields and rows of cypress trees—you will be equally swept away by Chef Davide Del Brocco’s creations, like tagliatelle in truffle oil or T-bone steak braised in balsamic vinegar with rocket, Parmesan and black truffles. Be prepared to indulge your oenophilic fantasies with selections from the wine list, flush with the local Brunellos. Founded by Mario and Vanna Fiorani 15 years ago, the restaurant is a family affair, with the Fioranis’ two daughters Alessandra and Marina working in the kitchen and front-of-the-house, respectively. The ubiquitous Rachael Ray, who recently held a party to celebrate her two-year wedding anniversary at the restaurant, says this little gem “makes quite possibly the best food in Tuscany.”
